How To Do Mountain Pose in Yoga

In this video, we have special guest star Gemma Carleton here to break down step by step how to do Mountain Pose in yoga properly and efficiently.

Mountain Pose, or Tadasana in Sanskrit, is especially important to learn as it is a foundational pose and starts off most yoga practices. Mountain Pose helps strengthen the legs and glutes by keeping them engaged and active. Watch this tutorial to get all the benefits from the pose.

Mountain Pose: your foundation for your practice.

Step 1: With feet hip distance apart, fan your toes wide on your mat for a base to stand on.

Step 2: Working from the ground up, lift your kneecaps to engage your quads, center your pelvis and squeeze your glutes.

Step 3: Engage your core by pulling your ribs in. Stand up tall by squeezing your shoulder blades together and slightly tucking your chin.

Step 4: Palms face forward with arms at your sides.
